Introduction

According to the AIP website, “AIP Advances is a fully open access, online-only community-led journal, covering all areas of applied physical science,” and it is funded by “an author-pays model.” The journal articles will go through both a “pre-publication peer review process” and a post-publication review process conducted by the community of users “through the implementation of web 2.0 commenting and ranking tools.” [1]

The debut issue of AIP Advances was published in March 2011. AIP Advances is published by “AIP Publishing, a division of the American Institute of Physics (AIP).” [2]

Use

In the simple search box at the top of website, users can search by volume/page, keyword, DOI (digital object identifier), or citation. In the advanced search, users can search within various fields or the full bibliographic record. Search terms can be joined by Boolean operators. The user can also search within other AIP journals by check marking the desired journals under the drop-down menu for publications. Additional drop-down menus can limit the search by volume-issue range or publication date range.

Users can also browse the table of contents of each specific volume, create table of contents alerts, and subscribe to the journal’s RSS feed.
