The CIPO (Canadian Intellectual Property Office) provides access to 75+ years of patent descriptions and images including over 2 million patent documents. Full document images including cover and abstract are available from 1975 to the present. For more detailed information on the data coverage, please see the Currency of Information page.
The Canadian database can be searched via Basic, Number, Boolean, and Advanced search forms and results are available in text and PDF formats. The Basic search interface accommodates both English and French language searches.
