The following is an Intellogist Help Topic Many of the terms and concepts surrounding patent searching can be difficult and confusing when encountered for the first time. To help shed some light on these terms and topics, we have provided Glossary articles where more experienced users can explain these terms and concepts. Although some terms and topics have already been covered by Intellogist editors, we encourage users to contribute by editing and creating new articles. Please only use the Glossary articles to discuss prior art search-related concepts; discussion of specific patent search products should go in the Community Reports section. Before creating a new Glossary article, please make sure you use browse the Glossary index and use our Search function thoroughly to ensure that the page does not already exist. All Glossary articles will be heavily reviewed and edited by other users as well as the Intellogist editors.
