Highwire is an ePublishing solutions and a division of the Stanford University Libraries. Highwire hosts over 1000 journals, books, and other scholarly publications. A significant number of these publications offer free access to at least a portion of their issues. Literature searches can also include the PubMed database. Highwire can be a useful source for non-patent literature searches, particularly for the medical sciences.
Highwire provides several tools that are intended to facilitate knowledge discovery. In addition to standard tools such as citation export, Highwire offers other innovative tools including graphical-based citation maps and an interactive MatchMaker tool for identifying patterns. Free and optional registration provides researchers access to personalized features such as search alerts and table of content notification.
