Delphion was originally known as the Intellectual Property Network, and began as an initiative within IBM. It became publicly available in 1997, the system was acquired by the Thomson Corporation in 2002.
As one of the earlier available online search systems, and as one marketed to end users, Delphion maintains a strong subscription base. Its parent company, Thomson Reuters, is a global leader in information services.
