Non-Patent Coverage: Introduction

Delphion’s advantages include a host of “extras” from other non-patent literature sources. Due to its early relationship to IBM, Delphion contains searchable backfiles of the IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin (or TBD, published 1958-1998), a journal for IBM employees to publish defensive disclosures of their new inventions. The system provides links to these and to ISI Web of Science abstracts when they are cited in patents. Finally, the system also provides search portals to the defensive publication database IP.com (separate subscription required), and to Thomson’s collection of industry standards on Techstreet, a database with content from over 350 standards-developing organizations. The following sections contain a summary of each resource.
