DWPI on Delphion is no longer available, as of March 31, 2012. DWPI data is available on the Thomson Innovation platform.

Family Data

Delphion offers both Derwent and INPADOC families in the same service. Although Derwent information is pay-per-use, INPADOC information is part of the flat-rate subscription fee.

INPADOC family data can be displayed for free whenever a full text record is viewed from Delphion’s integrated (full-text) view (see Family Search Features for more information). The INPADOC family data is collapsed when the record is first viewed, but can easily be expanded.

For Derwent data on individual hits, the family data can be accessed by purchasing the entire Derwent WPI record from the integrated view (at a cost of $6 per record). Once the Derwent data is loaded for that patent, the family data is automatically displayed as part of that record.

For searches that take place in the Derwent World Patent Index file, the Derwent family data is included in the $6 record display cost for each hit.

Both INPADOC and Derwent family data can be exported from the Data Export feature on Delphion. However, Derwent data has an additional cost associated with it.

For additional information on viewing family data in Delphion, see Family Search Features.

editors note iconEditor's Note:

Interestingly, another search product from Thomson, called Thomson Innovation, also offers both the INPADOC and Derwent family files, although Thomson-owned MicroPatent only includes INPADOC data.

In February 2009, a public discussion on the PIUG wiki forum took place concerning the accuracy of Delphion's INPADOC patent family generation.[1] This issue is discussed in Family Search Features.
