The following coverage dates were obtained from the system's user guide materials and represent the reported start dates for each collection. Please note that gaps in coverage may exist in any collection due to a number of factors, such as missing documents, scanning errors, OCR errors, even failure of national and regional patent offices to report data. No data source can be considered 100% complete, and searchers should consult as many unique data sources as possible.

Other Coverage
Citations: Delphion contains citation data for US documents only. Any foreign citations on the US documents will be linked to the forward US citation and the relationship will be shown when viewing the foreign patent’s bibliographic data. However, no backward citation data is included for any non-US records. In addition to linking to cited patents, Delphion also provides links from non-patent literature citations to some of those article’s journal entries in the Thomson’s ISI Web of Science database. In addition to linking to ISI data, Delphion also links to other patent documents which have cited a certain non-patent literature article.
Legal Status: INPADOC legal status data is available; USPTO maintenance fee status data is also loaded in the system.
Family Data: INPADOC and Derwent families are both hosted by the system. INPADOC families are free with a subscription; Derwent family records can be accessed on a pay-per-view basis.
Document Images: Patent facsimile image coverage varies by collection. The user's subscription level will determine the level of access to US, EP, and WO/PCT document PDFs; full document images other than US, EP and WO/PCT are available only on a pay-per-download basis. For countries other than those listed above, Delphion offers access to the EPO's image collection, so PDF patent coverage should be approximately equal to that offered by esp@cenet. Delphion also contains images for about 17,000 Swiss (CH) patents. See the Pricing Policy section for more information about pricing for downloading images for other countries.
Representative drawings are shown as thumbnails for some of the US (granted), GB and JP collections, but only front page document images are shown for the DE and WO/PCT collections. See the Viewing Patent Drawings section of this article for more information.
Editor's Note:Providing links to non-patent literature articles in other databases is a rare and valuable feature. Even though only a percentage of non-patent citations in Delphion are linked to corresponding ISI abstracts, this feature can still be a time-saver, preventing customers from having to look up and order these articles on their own. The service is especially beneficial for customers who subscribe to both services.
Bibliographic Coverage
In addition to the full text authorities mentioned above, Delphion hosts the INPADOC collection of worldwide bibliographic records, with coverage from 1968, and the Derwent World Patents Index collection, with bibliographic coverage of some countries from 1963.
Delphion also contains a bibliographic and image-only collection of about 17,000 Swiss (CH) patents. Most of these have a searchable French or German title but will not have a searchable abstract.
