|DWPI on Delphion is no longer available, as of March 31, 2012. DWPI data is available on the Thomson Innovation platform.|
The preferences window can be accessed in Delphion by clicking “My Account” as it appears on top of any Delphion screen. The preference screen in Delphion allows users to choose from several pre-set options.
The following list describes some of the options available from the preferences screen.
Auto log-in: users can choose to have their username and password remembered on the log-in page, if they feel security conditions permit.
SSL secure sign-in: users can designate whether they want to be signed in securely when using Delphion. SSL can slow performance on weaker internet connections.
Fast-buy option: turning on the fast buy option makes it quicker to purchase PDFs, file histories and Derwent records on Delphion by turning off the prompt window that normally appears when the user attempts to make a purchase. Users that are very comfortable with Delphion and make frequent purchases may want to disable the prompt to make using the service more convenient.
Collection/Search default menu: Users may also choose defaults for which collections are automatically selected for searching from the Boolean and Advanced search forms; users may also pre-set whether full text or bibliographic data is chosen for the search, and can set a pre-defined date range as the default.
Display default menu: Delphion also offers the option of permanently setting display preferences from this screen. The display menu here is the same one that appears at the bottom of each hit list page, to allow users to adjust their hit list display.
Export default menu: From this menu, data fields and file formats for exporting data can be pre-set.
The options from the preferences page in Delphion allow users in essence to customize their own search, display and export options; the ability to pre-set all this information is very advantageous. Some competitors offer a customizable display format, but few offer customizable search options or export formats. Overall, Delphion is ahead of the pack when it comes to allowed preference settings.
