Export Functions

Selected results from a search result set can be exported directly from the Picklist in HTML, XML, or Text formats.

Users can also export results directly to an XML file by using the XML Command. The XML command will send search results to an XML file instead of to the screen. After the user enters the XML command, the Choose a File to Download To window will appear so that the user can name the file. The default directory for saving DialogLink output files is the Download folder (Dialog > Link > Download) but the user navigate to another directory if he or she chooses. The XML file can be opened in a word processor, web browser, or other XML-capable software.

The HTML and TEXT commands work in an identical fashion to the XML command, except as you might expect, they generate an HTML file or a .TXT file, respectively.

Furthermore, reports may be created with will export Dialog XML data into either Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word formats. This is done using the Reports Tab within the DialogLink software. The screenshot below shows the Reports Tab in DialogLink.

The Reports tab can be used to generate reports in Excel or Word formats.
