Preferences
In DialogLink, The main Preferences menu can be found by choosing Configuration > Settings from the main menu bar and then choosing the appropriate user. Available preference options include:
- Show Estimated Cost Summary On/Off
- Highlight Search Term(s) On/Off
- Display Detailed Results by Search Term Short/Full
- Show Results by File (multi-file search) On/Off
- Display Postings On/Off
- Line Length
- Expand Items
- KWIC Window
- Output Cost Notification
Text and Graphics
Default fonts and the default image display size can be set in the Text and Graphics options menu under the Configuration tab in the DialogLink toolbar.
Chemical Structure Display
The Chemical Structure Display options give the user some flexibility in choosing how Dialog displays chemical structure data.
DialogClassic Web offers the user a limited number of options in the Preferences Tab. These preferences are associated with and saved to the user's account. In fact, the preferences tab will only be visible when the user is logged on to the Dialog system.
Default Save Option: Format choices are HTML, Text, Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF
Graphic Images: Set the maximum display size of images in pixels
Hold Output Position: Toggle whether or not the buffer scrolls to end automatically
Command Separators: Toggle separation line after every command on/off
Type Separators: Add line after every record – on/off
Linking Pane: Choose position of linking pane - Right, Left, or None
Status Location: Below Type Ahead Buffer or in Browser Status bar
Prompt for Subaccount at Logon: Choose whether Dialog prompts for subaccount at Logon - on/off
Hide History Tab: Choose to hide the History tab – on/off
Show Preferences at Login: on/off
Show Estimated Cost Summary: on/off
Output Cost Notification: Set a threshold in dollars at which Dialog will notify the user of cost
Highlight Search Terms: on/off
Display Detailed Results by Search Term: on/off
Show Results by File: For multifile searches, Dialog will break down results by file – on/off
Display Postings: on/off
KWIC Window: 0-50 (Default is 30) – Choose how many words are including in the KWIC view
Pricing Option: Choose between two Dialog pricing options: Dial Units or Connect Time
Expand Items: Choose how many items are displayed with the EXPAND command- 50, 25, or 10
Hold Expand Output Position: Toggle whether or not buffer scrolls to end on EXPAND command
