The Hit list

The result list of a search is listed in Dialog by typing the command LIST followed by the search number, for example S1, S2, S3, etc. The system will then list the results in the Retrieve Buffer as well as opening a new "Picklist" window (see the screenshot, below) which neatly displays the same result list, with added functionality including checkboxes associated with each result.

In DialogLink, the result set or "Picklist" is displayed in a separate window after entering the LIST command.

From this window, particular results may be selected and output in a variety of formats. See the Export Functions section for a more detailed discussion of these features.

Duplicated records can be removed from a result set by using the REMOVE DUPLICATES (RD) command. This is the most commonly used way of "de-duping" a result set on Dialog.

editors note iconEditor's Note:

Being purely text-based, there is no ability to see thumbnail images of any sort when viewing a result list in Dialog. This represents a significant disadvantage when compared to other more graphical search systems. Thumbnail images allow a searcher to quickly peruse a long list of results, scanning visually for a drawing with a certain feature.
