For the purpose of this article, the term "citation" refers to a patent citation. To get more information on how we use the term citation, please see the citations article.
Backward citation data is present for the United States (US) granted patents and European Patent Office Collection (EP) patents and applications (note: no citations are printed on US applications). No citation data is present in the Patent Cooperation Treaty (WO/PCT) or Japanese (JP) collections.
Non-patent (literature) citation data is present for US granted patents (note: no citations are printed on US applications).
For each collection, FreePatentsOnline provides forward citation information only in cases where the citing document is an EP or US document.
Source codes or relevancy indicators are not present for any citations.
Domestic and foreign backwards citations are searchable in the search form. Non patent literature citations are searchable in full text field searching. For more information about viewing and searching patent citations, see the Viewing Patent Citations section of this article.
