Searchable Datafields

In Google Patent Search, any search terms entered without field qualifiers will automatically be run through the entire full text patent records. To narrow the scope of a search, the following data fields can be searched from the advanced search form, or by using field qualifying operators:

  • Patent Number
  • Title
  • Inventor
  • Assignee
  • US Classification
  • IPC Classification
  • Issue date (range only – months but not days specified)
  • Filing date (range only – months but not days specified)

A number of operators are available to allow users to denote certain fields when using the quick search bar. These are listed below:

  • Patent Number: “Patent:”
  • Inventor: “ininventor:”
  • Assignee: “inassignee:”
  • US Classification: “uspclass:”
  • International Classsification: “intlpclass:”

Date ranges can be searched by using the phrase (between MM/YYYY and MM/YYYY) where the two dates specify a date range. (The phrase should not be enclosed in quotes, as the system will then interpret it as a phrase search.)
