Dates of Coverage

The Three Science Abstracts print publications: Physics Abstracts, Electrical and Electronics Abstracts, and Computer and Control Abstracts, date back to 1898. The rest of the journals, books, conferences, videos, dissertations, reports, and other available document types date from 1969 to the present. Inspec does not retroactively add older editions of newly added journals or other serial publications. Patents are narrowly covered, dating only 8 years for only two countries (the US and the UK), but special indexing for these records, such as Controlled Vocabulary tags, may enable a searcher to find patent references through Inspec that might not be found elsewhere. Thus, Inspec can be viewed as a resource that gives a patent searcher a secondary perspective.
