Updates
The file is updated daily with approximately 60-75 patent citations and 150-200 Markush structures.
Due to the labor-intensive process of indexing a patent document into MARPAT, there will be a delay between the time a patent record is first published and the time it becomes searchable in MARPAT. This delay is not always exactly known, but according to the CAS website:[1]
Patent records, meeting CAS selection criteria, from 9 of the major patent offices worldwide are available online in CAplus within 2 days of the patents' issuance, and fully indexed by CAS scientists in less than 27 days from the date of issue.
At one time, users could search MARPAT records before they were fully indexed in a “preview” file called MARPATprev. Today, this file no longer exists, and records exist in the database as bibliographic citations before they are fully indexed with generic structure data.
