Sources in Database
The overwhelming majority of records come from scholarly journals, with approximately 5,200 journals represented within MEDLINE.[1] According to NLM, 47% of these journals originate in the U.S.[2] Other sources within MEDLINE include serials, book chapters, and symposia.[3]
The coverage of OLDMEDLINE era records (1949-65) is specifically sourced from two printed indexes: the Cumulated Index Medicus (CIM) and the Current List of Medical Literature (CIML).
