Alerts

Alerts, known in MMS as SDIs (or Selective Dissemination of Information bulletins), can be defined in the system for single search queries. These searches are run in the MMS Frontfile (see the Introduction to Data Coverage section for more information) to detect any newly added publications that meet a structure query, and they can be set to run on a weekly or monthly basis.

When the MMS SDI results are completed, they will be in the format of a list of CN numbers (see Viewing Results - Compound Numbers and View Focus for more information). An e-mail notification will be delivered to the user when the SDI has run to completion after each cycle. The user may then log-on, and may choose to view his structure hits in MMS, and/or may transfer the list into the bibliographic files to view the patent hits themselves. SDI searches behave just like normal MMS searches – they can return generic structure hits, or specific compound hits from the Derwent Compound Registry (DCR) indexing applied by Derwent.

Users must be notified of SDI results via e-mail; before setting up an initial SDI request, users must define their current email address for the system. To create an SDI, users must first create and execute their desired search query. Then, they should use the “SV SDI” command to indicate that they want to set up an alert. The user will then be required to follow a series of command line prompts asking them to define whether the SDI search should be run on a weekly or monthly basis.

The following list of system commands pertain to setting and managing SDI queries and their results:

SV SDI name Save an SDI query
RF SDI name Recall an SDI answer set
RF HISDI Recall all SDIs saved on an account
HI SDI Listing of SDIs
ER SDI name Erase an SDI query

No alert functions for Markush searches are available on the ChemAxon JChem platform, since the JChem platform is not continuously linked to the MMS database.
