The Patent Cooperation Treaty Collection

Published PCT international applications (WO) are covered from October 19, 1978 to date, with comprehensive front-page drawing coverage from 1997. This OCR-created searchable collection only includes documents published in languages using the Roman alphabet.

The PCT collection is updated to contain corrected documents. As of May 2007, WO correction publications with kind codes of A8 or A9 (depending on the nature of the correction) have been added to the database.

MicroPatent hosts the PCT collection back to its earliest date of publication, October 19, 1978; this is the same coverage hosted by INPADOC. See the Bibliographic Coverage section of this article for a discussion on how the bibliographic collections stack up to INPADOC's coverage.

editors note iconEditor's Note:

Similar to other full text search services, MicroPatent offers searchable text for WO documents published in English, French, German or Spanish, and excludes those published in the additional PCT publication languages of Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese or Russian. As of a 2007 review, about 75.3% of WO documents were filed in English, French, German or Spanish.[1] MicroPatent’s data coverage page[2] promises an eventual addition of the full text publications in the Chinese, Japanese and Russian languages (Arabic is not mentioned). If this project is undertaken in earnest, the additional coverage would be an important addition to the PCT collection; according to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) 2007 annual review, 19.7% of applications in 2007 were filed in Chinese, Japanese, or Russian (Arabic language filings accounted for less than 0.1%).[1]
