Updates
A weekly update schedule for the actual full text of the documents from various participating authorities is always available from the MicroPatent main login page.
This schedule is updated every Friday, and provides verification that updates were loaded into the database on time. The schedule even notes reasons for delays, when they occur (i.e. “WO/PCT data was not updated on schedule due to a holiday”). Delay notices are posted as soon as they become available.
Editor's Note:The transparency provided by MicroPatent’s data update sheet is a definite advantage. Update schedules offered by some other search systems can give much less information about delays in data updates. Acknowledging delays, when they occur, is an important step towards guaranteeing user confidence in the currency of the data.
Some users have noted that the schedule does not always seem to be promptly updated each Friday. Also, even though delay notices are posted immediately, it is a little inconvenient that the schedule cannot be updated after each new data set is loaded, to confirm a successful scheduled update. However, MicroPatent should be applauded for its transparent approach to data uploads, which is lacking in some comparable search systems.
