Prosecution Histories
MicroPatent claims to have the largest collection of electronic prosecution history documents, also called file histories ("nearly 100,000 prosecutions, in .pdf or .tif format") and to be the largest commercial provider of US patent prosecution histories in the world. An inventory lookup tool is available from the MicroPatent home page to allow customers to determine if MicroPatent already has a digital version of the prosecution history. The company maintains staff professionals stationed at the USPTO for prosecutions not already in their collection.
Prosecution wrappers may be delivered in hard copy and/or on CD by overnight or 2-day shipping, via email in .pdf and .tif format, and by fax. The prosecutions are not bookmarked, either in .pdf or .tif format.
As a side note, since The Thomson Corporation (now Thomson Reuters) acquired MicroPatent, Thomson’s Delphion and Thomson Innovation search services have also started offering a prosecution history ordering interface. This interface is offered by Thomson as a convenience to their customers; however, any prosecution history orders likely go straight to the MicroPatent staff.
