Citation Coverage
For the purpose of this article, the term "citation" refers to a patent citation. To get more information on how we use the term citation, please see the citations article.

In practice searches, citation searching found most of the citations for any post 1978 document and even earlier for specific regions, such as the United States collection (US). In testing, some European collection (EP) documents were missing citations inconsistently and Japanese collection (JP) documents had no citations. Source codes are present for US and EP citations. Non-patent citations are available in a distinct non-patent citation field that is also fully searchable.
