The PatAnalyst search system has been discontinued by JOUVE. The company is now focused on providing IT services to the EPO and other national patent offices such as services related to publication and patent data management (digitalization, publication, patent procedure management interface).

Family Search Features

Family data is available in three forms: restricted, extended, and family representatives. The restricted method shows all the patents with the exact same set of priority numbers. The extended method shows all the patents with at least one priority number in common. The family representatives method shows the family representatives which are chosen, according to the PatAnalyst manual, “based on the availability of the text (preferably in English) and drawings”.[1] Using the "fam res" command to obtain the restricted family allows the user to use the "fam" command again to expand the family to a larger size based on related documents.

The data is sourced from INPADOC and can be accessed by using the ..family command in the command line interface. The family command generates a hit list which can be displayed in the same way as any other hit list. For information on displaying records, see the Viewing Results section.
