Germany
Full text German patent applications (DE-A) are provided from February 27, 1920 to date, and full text German utility models (DE-U) are available from September 03, 1964 to date.
The German text has been indexed without diacritical marks. The double “s” character, ß, should be searched as “ss”.
Editor's Note:Unlike some competitors, PatBase does not have a full text collection of German granted patents (DE-B,C) or translations (DE-T).
A March 2007 newsletter asserts that PatBase also has a special agreement with the German Patent Office, allowing it to especially augment its German collection (it is implied that this will be done using OCR technology). In this regard, PatBase seems to be in direct competition with search provider Delphion, which previously boasted “the most comprehensive German collection available” because it provided bibliographic information, images and main claims for German from 1968 and full text from 1987.[1] Additionally, PatBase asserts that its German collection is updated with full text records the day after publication (more information about PatBase update schedules can be found on the Updates page).
