The www.patentanalysis.com search portal has closed as of April 2010. The company is now only providing XML data from the New Zealand IPONZ collection.

Usability

The following section contains subjective comments about the system that represent our editor's opinions, and should not be viewed as fact. Editor's opinions include positive and negative judgments about the product written in consideration of wider context, including related products and the industry at large.

The PatentAnalysis.com interface itself is fairly straightforward and easy-to-use. However, the inability to save results in any sort of search history is a strike against the usability of PatentAnalysis.com. Also, it is unclear as to why PDF copies are only available for New Zealand documents, but not for US or European records. Ultimately this system should be recognized for its substantial coverage of New Zealand documents and its free chemical structure searching. For professional searchers, however, many of its features are subpar. The lack of proximity operators as well as a lack of a useful function for saving results is a weakness in the eyes of some professional searchers.
