As of January 1, 2013, both QPAT and PatentExaminer have been discontinued, and they have been replaced by the Orbit.com portal.

Weighting and Ranking Features

QPAT does not use keyword weighting features to rank hits based on possible relevance.

The Patent Examiner application, which is a program for viewing and in-depth analysis of results sets, does allow users to define their own ranking criteria (based on a five-star system) and apply it to references.

editors note iconEditor's Note:

The lack of a hit list ranking system in QPAT could be seen as an indication that the system is designed for users conducting full-scale investigations that require comprehensive reviewing, rather than the retrieval of a couple of the most relevant hits.
