Company Strength

STN represents a family of products produced as a joint venture of the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) and FIZ Karlsruhe.

Chemical Abstracts Service is a division of the American Chemical Society and is based in Columbus, Ohio, USA. CAS produces the CA, CAplus and REGISTRY databases.

FIZ Karlsruhe is a German non-profit research institution well-known as the producer of the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database (ICSD).

The fact that the STN search tools are produced by two major database providers allows hassle-free, unfettered and up-to-date access to these CAS and FIZ Karlsruhe databases, in addition to the many non-CAS produced databases accessible through STN. The announcement of development of a new STN platform for 2012 also illustrates that CAS and FIZ Karlsruhe are taking user needs into consideration and improving the functionality of their product.[1] Just as ProQuest improved upon the functionality of The legacy Dialog platforms by introducing the new ProQuest Dialog platform, CAS and FIZ Karlsruhe demonstrate growth and product improvement through the introduction of this new STN interface.
