Login and Logoff
The login/logoff process in STN Express may seem rather complex to a user more accustomed to web-based interfaces. The login/logoff process in STN on the Web and STN Easy are both much simpler and will be more familiar to the novice user.
In STN Express, to logon the user presses the "Logon" button on the STN Toolbar, shown below.
According to the STN Express manual, if a user has more than one set-up, the "Select Logon Settings" dialog box will display. Users can then select a set-up name and click OK. Users may also be prompted to enter their login IDs and password if the ID and password is not included in the set-up.[1]
A dialog window will then appear asking the user to select a file to save the session transcript to. Users can save their transcripts in *.trn, RTF or PDF formats, and they can select "Show structure queries" to display structure queries in the transcript.[1] After the user does this, the STN software will automatically log on and display a welcome message along with an "arrow" command prompt. See below for a screenshot.
In STN on the Web, logging in is done with simple Username and Password entry fields. On the login screen there is also an option to turn transcript logging on or off. If this function is turned on, there is an option to name the transcript.
Logging in to STN Easy is very similar to STN on the Web. The user also may choose his or her preferred language for the interface on this screen. The available language options are: English, Deutsch (German), Japanese, French and Spanish.
