Patent collections contain data indexed by non-patent-office classification schemes (e.g. Derwent Manual Codes): Yes, Derwent, INPADOC, and CAS data is accessible through STN.
Search Capabilities
IPC code searching: Yes. Rolled-up IPC Core Codes have been removed from IPC reclassifications (IPCR field) in patent databases on STN.[1]
US Classification searching: Yes
ECLA code searching: Yes. An ECLA thesaurus is now available in CA/CAplus databases.[2]
Japanese F-terms or File Indexing: Yes, F-terms are searchable in CA/CAplus and Derwent.
Date-limited searching: Yes, date fields include Published/Filed/Priority.
