Alerts
Alerts can be created by saving a search query and then modifying it to turn the alert setting on. An alert is a re-occurring search query that informs the user of new search results since the last query was run.
SumoBrain gives users the ability to set preferences for the alerting feature, including notification method (in-account, email, both, or neither) and notification frequency (daily, weekly with choice of day, or monthly with choice of date). Users are not able to customize the time of day that the alert notification is sent, but it is generally around 9 AM Eastern Standard Time. Email results are delivered to the registered user who created the alert and cannot be assigned to another email.
As can be seen above, the original query is not mentioned in the email alert. However, the user created name for the query is listed in the alert (in this case “resistor search”). Patent document number links are available directly from the email, as well as a link to take users to the full range of results. The alert cannot be turned into an RSS feed.
Editor's Note:Saved alerts failed to send notifications of any type for the first month and a half of testing. Thereafter, alerts ran with full functionality. This inconsistency casts doubt on the reliability of this feature.
