The following section contains subjective comments about the system that represent our editor's opinions, and should not be viewed as fact. Editor's opinions include positive and negative judgments about the product written in consideration of wider context, including related products and the industry at large.
Surf IP is a project of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) to help those in intellectual property industry search for prior art across a variety of patent databases. The interface was created in associated with Intellectual Property Exchange Pte. Ltd. (IPEXL), an intellectual property company based in Singapore. IPEXL also hosts its own patent search tool.
The front-end for Surf IP is continuously updated with news and features. The database provider is a commercial company working in tandem with the Singaporean government intellectual property department, therefore support for this search engine is likely to continue for some time as new data is released from each publishing authority. Unfortunately, a lack of recent updates to the site suggests that improvements to the search engine are not likely in the future.
