The Surf-IP search platform ceases operation as of September 30, 2011. A list of websites of other IP offices where users can conduct patent, trademark, and design searches will be posted by IPOS after Surf-IP ceases operations.

Viewing Individual Records

Surf IP does not have an image viewer for viewing records. Clicking on the record of interest opens up a new window. From there, the user views the record as it is displayed on its country of origin’s website. For example, US documents are viewed using the USPTO Patent Full-text and Image Database viewer while Japanese documents are viewed using Japanese Patent and Utility Model Gazette Database viewer, and so forth.
