The Surf-IP search platform ceases operation as of September 30, 2011. A list of websites of other IP offices where users can conduct patent, trademark, and design searches will be posted by IPOS after Surf-IP ceases operations.

Viewing Patent Drawings

The Surf IP interface does not allow for any type of image browsing. Users must click on the patent document they are interested in to get to the viewer provided by the publishing authority. If images are available, they may then be viewed. Searching large numbers of documents is therefore time-consuming and impractical, especially for searches where the drawings are important, such as mechanical searches.
