F-terms What is the meaning of an asterisk in the F-term tables?

Does anyone know what the asterisks in the F-term tables mean?

Take, for example:

PURPOSE *
. Reinforcing resistance *

in table 5B035, which can be found at:

http://www5.ipdl.inpit.go.jp/pmgs1/pmgs1/!frame_E?hs=1&gb=2&dep=3&sec=5B&c...

I'd also be grateful if anyone could shed light on the exact meaning of the dots. Do they mean the same thing that they do in hieracrchical classification systems such as the IPC?
